Last month, my class did something special. Instead of a normal school day, we spent one whole day helping our local community. Our teacher called it “Volunteer Day”. At first, some students were not happy, because they wanted a day off. But by the end, everyone felt proud.

We divided into three groups. My group went to the town park. We collected rubbish, pulled out weeds and planted new flowers. Another group visited an old people’s home. They talked to the people there, listened to their stories and helped serve lunch. The third group painted an old wall near the school with bright, colourful pictures.

It was hard work, and we were tired at the end of the day. But when we looked at what we had done, we felt wonderful. The park was clean, the old people were happy, and the wall looked beautiful. Our teacher said, “A small action can make a big difference.” I will never forget our Volunteer Day.
