My grandmother often tells me about life when she was young, many years ago. She says that life was very different before mobile phones and the internet. At first, it is hard for me to imagine such a world.

When my grandmother wanted to talk to a friend, she could not send a message. She had to write a letter and wait many days for an answer. Families had one telephone in the house, and it did not move. To find information, people went to the library and read books. There were no video calls, so if a family member lived far away, they rarely saw their face.

My grandmother says that life was slower then, but people were not always looking at screens. They talked more, and they spent more time outside. Today, phones are useful and I love mine, but I understand her point. Sometimes it is good to put the phone down and enjoy the real world.
