A Trip to Penang

An A2 reading text about a holiday with a friend. Practise the past tense and travel vocabulary.

Last summer, my friend Nadia and I went on a trip to Penang. We took the train from Kuala Lumpur in the morning. The journey was about four hours, but it was comfortable and we enjoyed the views from the window.

When we arrived, we went straight to our hotel near the beach. The hotel was small but clean, and the staff were very friendly. In the afternoon, we walked around George Town and looked at the famous street art. We took many photos.

The best part of the trip was the food. We tried laksa, char kway teow and many other local dishes. Everything was delicious and cheap. On the last day, we were sad to leave, but we promised to come back next year.
