A Trip to Penang
Read about a family holiday in Penang. An A2 reading story in the past tense, with key words and comprehension questions.
Last month, my family and I travelled to Penang for a short holiday. We were very excited because we had never been there before. We took the train early in the morning, and the journey lasted about four hours.
When we arrived, we went straight to our hotel near the beach. The hotel was small but very clean, and the people who worked there were friendly. In the afternoon, we walked around George Town, the old part of the city. We saw beautiful old buildings and colourful street art on the walls. My father took many photographs.
The best part of the trip was the food. We tried famous Penang dishes like laksa and char kway teow. Everything was delicious, although some of it was quite spicy! In the evening, we sat by the sea and watched the sun go down. We stayed for three days, and we did not want to leave. It was the best holiday of my life, and I hope we will go back again next year.
