The Festival
Read about a family festival celebrated every spring. An A2 reading text with key words and comprehension questions.
Next week is my favourite festival of the year. In my town, we celebrate it every spring. The whole town becomes bright and colourful, and everyone is excited. People clean their houses and buy new clothes before the big day.
On the day of the festival, families cook special food together. My grandmother makes sweets that we only eat at this time of year. In the afternoon, there is music and dancing in the town square. Children play games and win small prizes. In the evening, there are beautiful lights everywhere.
The best part is that all my family comes together. My aunts, uncles and cousins travel from other cities to visit us. We eat, talk and laugh late into the night. This year, I am going to help my grandmother make the sweets for the first time. I cannot wait for the festival to begin.
