Every Saturday morning, there is a big market in our town. It is my favourite day of the week. The market opens at seven o’clock, and by eight it is already full of people. My mother and I always go together.

The market sells almost everything. There are stalls with fresh fruit and vegetables, and the colours are beautiful. Other stalls sell fish, meat, bread and cheese. There is even a man who sells flowers. The air smells of fresh food and spices, and everyone is talking and laughing.

My mother likes to buy vegetables for the week. She always talks to the farmers and asks about the prices. Sometimes she gets a better price if she buys a lot. I usually buy some fruit and a warm pastry to eat. After two hours, our bags are full and heavy. We walk home slowly, tired but happy. Market day brings our town together.
