1. AND – to add
Use and to add similar information.
- I like tea. I like coffee. → I like tea and coffee.
- Emma studies English and she works at night.
2. BUT – to show a difference
Use but to add surprising or opposite information.
- The class is difficult but interesting.
- James is tired but he is happy.
3. BECAUSE – to give a reason
Use because to answer “why?” It gives the reason.
- I study hard because I want good grades.
- Thomas is happy because it is the weekend.
4. Commas with joining words
