A Difficult Decision
Read about a young woman's hard choice between music and science. An A2 reading story with key words and questions.
When Nour finished school, she had a difficult decision to make. She loved two very different things: music and science. She played the violin beautifully, but she was also the best science student in her class. Now she had to choose one subject to study at university.
For weeks, Nour could not decide. Her parents wanted her to study science, because they thought it would give her a good job. But her heart was in music. She talked to her teachers, her friends and her family. Everyone had a different opinion, and this made the choice even harder.
In the end, Nour made a brave decision. She chose to study science, but she promised herself that she would never stop playing music. Today, Nour is a doctor, and she still plays the violin every evening. She learned that sometimes you do not have to choose only one thing. You can find a way to keep both.
- decision – a choice you make after thinking
- choose – to pick one thing from two or more
